This project was inspired by a song. The song tells a story about a group of teenagers who were sent to an Internet addiction treatment institution by their parents because they were addicted to online games. There, they were affixed with electrode patches and received electric shock therapy to "correct" their behavior. This made me very curious, and I began to investigate the background, news reports and academic research of these Internet addiction treatment institutions. As the investigation deepened, I found that this was not just a story about "Internet addiction", but a profound proposition about control and resistance, reality and virtuality, individuals and institutions.
Through photography, I recreated this atmosphere using symbolic elements—sterile hospital settings, striped gowns, cold lighting, surreal colors. Some characters submit to "treatment," others resist or search for escape.
